Artist History
SOOT formed in 1997 with a foundation in metal, rock, rhythm and blues.
The band has released three full-length albums. "Off the Nog" was
released in 1999, and featured the funky "Orange Peeled" and head-banging,
"Flakes". SOOT followed up with heavier hitting funk in early 2001 with
the "Pawnsnatcher" album, featuring local hits "Crushed" and "Winter In Detroit". Their 2002 self-titled release detonates a sonic boom in your head with thick layers of molten guitar riffs as the vocals literally dive out of the speakers. They even add the flavor of viola and cello
players from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra on "Long Time". SOOT has made numerous radio appearances in Michigan; including Detroit's 101.1 the WRIF and 97.1's Static Radio Show, WCMU in Mt. Pleasant, and WMOM in Ludington. Entertaining thousands of people over the last six years, these perennial titans have packed in the houses at such venues as The Magic Bag (with Fishbone), St. Andrew's Hall, The Blind Pig, Royal Oak Music Theater, The High Times' 2000 WHEE Festival at Rainbow Farms (with The Byrds and the Wailers), and countless more. Now, with three CDs, local radio support, stickers, hats, T-shirts, SOOT tattoos, three music videos, and an intense and energetic stage show, SOOT is ready to catch
the world on fire, leaving only SOOT in the wake of flames. How hot can you handle it?

"Off The Nog" CD Review
This recording goes from a fragile rock-like sound into a few decent tunes about sex, into ass-kicking rock and roll. If you haven't heard it yet, get off yer' ass and go buy a copy. Nah, buy two 'cause somebody is going to ask you where you got it. Listening to this disc left me with just one question - why aren't these guys on the radio?
