Artist description
Giles Reaves considers fate his friend. An accomplished recording artist, mixer/engineer and multi-instrumentalist, his career began with what appeared to be a chance encounter. In the mid - 1980s a top record label executive, Tony Brown, accidentally overheard Giles doodling in a recording studio. As a result, Brown invited Giles to record synthesized instrumentals for the MCA Master Series. The resulting albums, Wunjo and Nothing Is Lost, gained recognition among space music fans. Wunjo is considered one of the top electronic albums of all time by Electronic Musician magazine but received little record company support or distribution. To this day, Steven Hill of the nationally syndicated "Hearts of Space" radio program still receives fan mail seeking a copy of Wunjo. When Giles’ recording contract with MCA had expired, Hill signed Giles to his Hearts of Space label resulting in Giles’ most successful album to date, Sea of Glass spending four months on the new age charts. Giles’ most recent album, Sacred Space has just been released and is available at www.SpaceForMusic.com. As fate would have it, as a mixer/engineer Giles Reaves has worked on very diverse projects. His credits include projects such as the Reservoir Dogs Soundtrack, Megadeath, Faith Hill, Vanessa Williams, N’Sync, Elton John, LeAnn Rimes, Gladys Night, George Strait, Peter Cetera, and Dixie Chicks. According to producer Jay Joyce, “Giles is one of the best keyboardist and drummers on the planet”. Giles’ performances can be heard on critically acclaimed albums by Tim Finn, Chantal Kreviazuk, Abra Moore, Chet Atkins, & Patty Griffin to name a few. With Giles Reaves extensive talents as a space music recording artist, pop/rock drummer and keyboardist as well as an accomplished studio mixer/engineer, perhaps his success doesn’t have so much to do with “chance“ after all. |
