Artist description
Farewell to Juliet (FTJ) combines the modern/British rock sounds of bands like Catherine Wheel, Gene, and the oft-namechecked Radiohead with formative prog influences like Pink Floyd and Rush. Balancing these are concurrent loves of the mellower, melodic Over the Rhine and the roots/Americana style of Vigilantes of Love. Everybody in the band appreciates the Choir. |

Artist History
The band formed at the University of Illinois in Champaign. Jeff Elbel and Brant Hansen parlayed penchants for heady conversation and parodying U2 into original material. Friend/original drummer Jeff Schmale provided the band's foundation, and a newspaper ad was placed for a very specific bassist. John Bretzlaff was the sole respondent. Between FTJ's albums, John moved to acoustic guitar, and former Animator keyboardist Stacey Krejci picked up the bass. Jeff Schmale moved on, and Funky Butt Drum Club alum Chad Dunn moved in. |
