Press Reviews
Mellow Country-Folk with David Roback (Mazzy Star) influenced guitar playing and Will Oldham inspired singing. Imagine what it would sound like if Acetone got a good night's sleep. -Listen.com.
Mining the bitter sad-sack vein, Derek Richmond has been writing songs for over 10 years. He explores the area where hard luck, romance, and slacking, meet. In that, you could call him a voice of a generation. But, synthesizing a wide range of influences, including Wilco, The Mamas and The Papas, Violent Femmes, Beck, and Belle and Sebastian, somehow leaves Richmond very much his own man.Jon Berger, Anti Matters, NYC.
"... Detroit to NYC transplant Derek Richmond spent some time recording at the Bubble in Austin for the past few months and his world-worn country alt. tunes will put a tear to your two step and inject you with just enough Detroit to keep you on the edge wanting more and more... Plus the cover photo of Derek bears a remarkable resemblance to Peter Fonda (the "Easy Rider" years)" -Major Matt Mason, USA.
