Artist History
Cryptameria began in 1996 with Guitarist Rick Redd and Percussionist Smurf. Dionysis joined Cryptameria as Vocalist in 1997. The band recorded it's first demo, "Root", in 1998. The demo gained the group international interest via digital music on mp3.com, and several songs made mp3.com Heavy Metal Charts. Guitarist Harley D and Bassist HC joined the group in 1998. This lineup recorded a full length record in 1999-2000, titled "Obelisk". Shortly after the release in July 2000, Guitarist Rick Redd left the group. The album gave the band underground credibility, and respect. In 2001 Cryptameria performed at the Milwaukee Metalfest. In 2002 the band performed at the Metal Meltdown IV in NJ in Asbury Park, NJ. In August 2002, the band had reached a point of conflicting personal and musical direction. Vocalist Dionyis walked away, and the remaining members recruited Bobby Hicks to sing for Cryptameria. This website is dedicated to Cryptameria 1996 - 2002. Music created by the group from this period will aways remain freely available on mp3.com. |
