Artist History
Brass Tact are a lively Electro/Acoustic duo, who endeavour to create music that has all the necessary ingredients for classic pop songs. The essential focus is always on melody, strong 'hook lines', quality musicianship, a sense of passion and genuineness about the vocals and of course a heavy emphasis on lyrical content. Having been friends since their school days, both Kevin and Ian have been making music together for many years although up until now they have been content to limit 'the Gospel according to Brass Tact' to a small band of dedicated friends and the occasional drunken stranger willing to watch and be charmed at one of their all too infrequent live performances. However, spurred on by the excellent response they received after performing last year at The 12 Bar Club in London, they set out to make this Demo C.D. Heard and Understood and now have firmly set their sights on a career in music. As Ian says "we are not expecting to become multi-million sellers (although we wouldn't say no!), but regular touring, building up a loyal fan base seems eminently possible"Ian himself has already had minor success as lead guitarist in a Colchester based rock band in the early nineties Catch 22. They had a strong local following, but as with so many bands they struggled to find the professional support needed to move up to that higher level. Don't let that happen with Brass Tact!Brass Tact are acutely aware of how well their songs are received even with the limited exposure they have so far allowed themselves. Their songs are strong, often unusual and quirky in both style and content, and as individuals Kevin and Ian are likeable, humorous and talented all of which comes across both in their songs and in the flesh. Kevin's work within psychiatry and mental illness is often evident within some of the songs as he draws directly on those experiences in his songwriting, however this only adds to the depth of their material and serves to put them apart from many other bands. Pleasant Listening. |
