Artist History
1988 was a seminal year in Hardcore. Bands such as No For An Answer and Insted ruled the Orange County scene. This was an exciting time as OC hardcore was just jettisoning it's infancy in the wake of such bands as Uniform Choice. It was time for the music to stand on its own and see where it could be taken.
Flash forward 10 years, Mike Hartsfield, Isaac Golub and Steve Larson, a trio whose hardcore credentials read like a virtual who's who(Outspoken, A Chorus Of Disapproval, Strife, the Suppression Swing, Insted, Carry Nation, etc...) of seminal hardcore bands, form AMENDMENT 18, a sort of defiant stand against a scene which is not only no longer young and innocent, but moving in several different directions at once. Somebody needed to say something, somebody needed to be doing things a little differently. AMENDMENT 18 was going to be that band.
Shortening their name to A18, this band found themselves sharing the stage with such acts as Agnostic Front, AFI, Good Riddance, Reach The Sky, Bane, Grade, Snapcase, Avail, and numerous others. Over the past 4 years, A18 have become the journeymen of today's hardcore scene. Playing wherever, with whomever and whenever. To date, A18 has a full length record (All My Heroes Are Dead, New Age Records), to go with their two EP's (This Year's Enemy, New Age Records, and Every Knife Has A Home, on Germany's Fixed Star Records). A18 have now recorded their most recent effort 'foreverafternothing'.
Most recently, the band added second guitarist Regis Guerin (A Chorus of Disapproval) and bassist Steve Hertz (Circle Storm/Collision) making the line-up heavier and stronger than ever. September 2002, A18 found new drummer Tom Stretton and are tightening up the set and gearing to playout wherever and whenever possible.
A slight departure from previous A18 releases, 'foreverafternothing' shows a more creative, intricate, and mature band. Produced by legendary hardcore engineer Paul Miner (Death By Stereo), this thick, multifaceted recording interweaves both the past, present and future of a scene whose dynamic is constantly changing and like A18, constantly progressing.
