Artist description
With synthesizers, drum machines and a healthy dose of jangly guitars, William brews up a haunting mix of hook laden tunes, as if The Smiths had been fed through Erasure's 808 drum machine. |

Artist History
William was born on a cool spring evening (1999)as Ebin Nathan and Kevin Haus made their way from one pub to the next. In the lull between the fifth and sixth pints of the evening, Ebin and Kevin discovered their mutual love for British electro-pop, and decided it was time to dream up a little of their own. As spring gave way to summer, William grew strong, raised on equal parts poppy melodies and driving rug cutting beats. As it came time for the two to give their music to the world, they decided to find the perfect person to fill out their sound. One night they met with Nick Moceri, founder of Sign Language records. He was quite impressed with the abilities of William, and offered to fill the empty spot himself. The members rediscovered William as a three piece. Later, Nick decided to pursue his fortune as a movie director in L.A. while remaining with the group as the west coast division. William came to meet Poth, who happened to have located the soul of the band in a vintage store. His attempt to hold it ransom backfired when William roped him into playing with the group. In its short span of existence, William has produced both crashing dancefloor anthems and lovely ballads. |

Press Reviews
WILLIAM [ACADEMY]Espresso Royale 3/17/00The band William does not contain any Williams. Nor does it have a Bill,Billy, Mack or Buddy, or anything else close. What it does have is threeguys who stand in a neat line with a pile of blinking, beeping machinesbehind them. Could this be the return of synth pop? I say there are farworse things that could revive. Like the band Azurtech, who appeared latelast year, William have updated that great new wave sound and meshed it withtoday's sampling and looping technology. And they've done it whilemaintaining their sense of originality, using clever drum beats and keyboardlicks in addition to the two guitars and slight, complementary vocals.Disenfranchised Smiths devotees and pop fans who think they've heard itall-William have a few riffs just your style.
