Artist History
Three Mile Smile was formed in the spring of 1993 from the ashes of former local Regina bands Rough & Ready, Whiteline and Studio A. After a year of writing material and playing local gigs, a demo was produced of an original song. The song "Black and Blue" was submitted and appeared on a small scale local compilation tape "Musically Challenged". The release saw some print exposure, culminating with a tape release party and a four band showcase at Channel One, a local Regina night club. The event was video taped by Cable Regina and ran numerous times on the Alternate Trax series. Three Mile Smile would subsequently be invited back to host the occasional jam session and take part in a triple bill show. The group resurfaced at Checkers Night Club in the spring of 1995 after writingand rehearsing new material. By this time the band had enough original songs to carry the evening. Three Mile Smile earned a spot and studio time to record two songs on the "Checkered" compact disc which was released New Years Eve 1995 and was available at HMV locations throughout 1996. The band continued to write and record a 14 song demo up to the end of 1998. Playing a few select shows to test new material, including the "Spring Meltdown" band competition at the Plains Motor Hotel. Three Mile Smile added member Shane Thompson (replacing former member Dave Turchak). In the Spring of 1999 Three Mile Smile formed their own label..Ironing Board Recordsand released the debut CD "Lick My Plate". The first single "Won't Get Mad" has recieved some localair play at Regina's own 104.9 The Wolf.. www.thewolfrocks.com |
