Artist description
Lifetime musicians working English Teacher day jobs, we play out at bars, clubs a couple of times a week, with occasional festivals thrown in. We play equal parts originals and blues covers from the 1920's-1970's. We're all bluesophiles, and take special pleasure in unearthing songs and lyrics from the 1920s-1940s and arranging them in a more modern Chicago Blues format. The band is made up of expatriates from England, Canada and US. |

Artist History
Two members (Prentice and Curtis) began playing together in Wisconsin, USA back in 1985, playing in several bands in many lands. They've played in Alaska, California, Thailand and then in 1991, went to Taiwan as English Teachers. There they met up with Dennis Farley (sax, clarinet, and flute) in 1992, where the band played to a lot of really small venues (and audiences!) under a number of different names. Curtis returned to the USA for about three years beginning in late 1993 and didn't return until June of 1998. Soon thereafter, both David Chen (lead guitar and vocals) and Michael Bennett (Percussion)joined the group and the Pocket Monkeys were born. After spending close to six months in the studio, they began playing out on a regular basis. In late spring of 1999, the newest member of the band, Connor Prunte (Harmonica) came up during a set and asked if he could sit in. Well, by the end of the evening, it was unanimously voted to add his awesome sound to the band. Since then we've played all over Taiwan in the major cities. |
