BEHIND THE MUSIC Michael Klubbstone alias “Muzzu” at the age of eleven wrote his first song titled “Baby I love You.” Inspired by the legendary work of Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Bob Marley , Madonna, Babyface, UB40, Jimmy Hendrix and others, Muzzu has for the past fifteen years transformed into a phenomenon. Born in midwest Ohio, his parents took a trip to the United Kingdom in the eighties, and soon migrated back to West Africa. In the early nineties Muzzu came back to the States, and in 1995 produced and released his debut album “EFE.” A graduate of Wright State University, Muzzu combines his cultural diversity and artistic genius to his songs. Whether from real experiences, fantasy, or fiction, his words and music on love and life are heart touching , inspiring, humorous, yet real. Crossing over from R&B, Hip-Hop to Dance, Rock or Gospel, this is an Artist with a limitless vision of hits itching to meet the World. MAKING OF A MUSIC MACHINE What was it like growing up in Ohio ? I had lots of fun. I was the second kid out of three at the time, and my older brother was always the macho influence. My younger sister and I shared close resemblance and love for poems. Mom always sang while cleaning the Kitchen. Dad played lots of funky pop albums like “Kool&TheGang” “Chic” “Jackson Five” “Abba” “Rick James” “James Brown” and “Shalamar” What was it like visiting Europe ? At the time it was big on rock, reggae, disco, and uptempo dance. I admired the international work of Musical Youth, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and The Beatles. I liked the energy. What was it like in West Africa ? The complex cultures, traditions, beliefs, and climatical differences were unlike anything I had ever seen. Although the government worked differently, and school was challenging at the beginning, there was something simple about it all that I’ll cherish forever. I hope to tour there someday. Tell us the story behind “EFE” ? My debut album contained alot of rap story telling and dance beats. It emphasized my African roots, and was an original not specifically aimed at one market. It is currently being reviewed for publishing use in t.v & film. “EFE” is an african name meaning wealth. What is your vision ? I intend to remain as creative as possible without limitations, fusing all my abilities together to promote marketable work that music lovers will always look up to. I mix my music so it sounds live, like am really there with the listener. I would like to see the World become free of diseases, poverty and crime, so I intend to be involved with issues and charities across the Globe. I want to help make a difference. HOW THE MAGIC BEGAN Muzzu’s parents ran a successful family business and partying became a way of life. The bold youngster always stole the dance floor. He possessed star power unconsciously keeping the crowd at attention. He got his first taste of stardom break dancing on local t.v. By eleven Muzzu wrote his first song titled “Baby I love you.” He formed a quartet in elementary school named DEST. By graduation he found himself miles away from home in a boarding High school. Nobody in his freshman class had a clue about Muzzu. He was soft spoken and appeared very calm, but even Muzzu didn’t know Muzzu very well then either. Nobody knew what he would eventually become. By fifteen Muzzu had made several demos at his own expense. He even paid Five Star Music Masters of Boston, Massachusetts to convert some of his song poems to lead sheet. Not bad for a youngster half way across the World. Mid way through High School Muzzu was known as an outstanding student and sportsman. Late at night some fellow mates took notice of him singing, and would occasionally ask him to sing for them. Graduation year was approaching, and the school community needed something new to send off their graduates. Muzzu recruited two student dancers and decided to create a show. He choreographed and performed SNAP’s “I’ve Got The Power.” Muzzu instantly became the school’s megastar. He went on to perform several other songs. His name was written all over school walls by student fans. Muzzu became a legend. THE LEGEND CONTINUES..
