Artist History
Saying that the forming of Melampyre was an obviousness would be an exaggeration. Let’s make a quick recalling : we are in 1996, and 3 beginner musicians meets once a week for playing some covers (metal or ribald thrash at this time ;-).But slowly, almost imperceptibly, their desire of creating a coherent work, fedded by their common musical influences, gave birth to Melampyre.Trip-hop, post-rock, post-hop or houla hop, you can call their music like you want, but don’t reduce it to a musical genre. Because even if Massive Attack or Portishead are the common denominator, the musical culture of Melampyre is also composed by Type O’Negative or Stevie Ray Vaughan.Well, at this state it seems difficult to believe in the development of a coherent work ? Mistake. If you listen the first three Melampyre’s EP, you will discover that Melampyre belongs its own world, its themes, its sounds... in short its personnal, original and dreadfully attractive style.

    Press Reviews
Listen.com review : French instrumental Trip-Hop band, unabashedly calling their tunes "deep reveries," combine weepy Neo Classical strings with Blues Rock guitar solos, using both to convey waves of deep, sorrowful emotion. Noah E.
Artistique-Infinity : This French group has a lot going on. Lots of quite unique and smooth Trip-Hop. You have chanting, strings, funky bass, and guitar... Check out all of their songs. There is something to find that will please.
