Artist History Bud and Janice play in a full bluegrass band; however, Hard Times is an effort apart from their regular band. Eight of these songs were written by the Merritts and all feature the instrumental wizardy of Randy Howard (1960-1999). Randy was first and foremost our friend, a grammy nominated world champion fiddler, and a picker on literally hundreds of recording projects from George Jones to Garth Brooks to J.D. Crow to acoustic jazz efforts. We are truly humbled to have played with him. These recordings were produced from 1989 to 1999 in the Merritt living room on multi-track cassette.
