Artist description
Young, driven, creative, unique style, intensely energetic new rock band from Madison, Wisconsin. One of four statewide finalists selected by TAXI for the 1999 Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands, before their first gig. Generating a buzz, and already poised for a breakout. Excellent website (http://www.furiousjones.com) with streaming and downloadable audio. |

Music Style
Energetic, driven, original. More complex, harder alternative/new rock with a groove. Addictive. Tight, funky rhythm section. Vocals range from compelling, sweet harmonies to infectiously raucous to outrageously over-the-top (Dave clipped a 140db mic repeatedly during the recording of "Overload"). |

Musical Influences
NOFX, Nirvana, Pearl Jam. RATM |

Artist History
Began as Flunch in 1997, in all-ages clubs. Generated so much crowd excitement that club owners had to use extra security for the mosh pit and stage front. Added a fifth member in 1999. As FJ, the band's first gig was as a finalist in the Ernie Ball statewide Battle of the Bands, based on a demo CD. FJ's fourth gig was as the opener for Crazy Train, a national touring Ozzy Osborne Tribute band from Louisville, and momentum has continued to build. FJ is fast becoming a favorite of other area bands, and is now branching out statewide. FJ's song "No Rest" recently completed all 4 weeks as reigning champion on WMAD's Tuesday Night Fights, stomping all competition by a cumulative vote of 113-14. |

Press Reviews
"When a newspaper distributes across three different states, the definition of local music becomes a tangled mess. This month's attempt at cross-referencing and counter balancing includes local labels, local acts, local acts done good and local action. Our friends FURIOUS JONES, Muzzy Luctin and Phat Phunction have been constant lights in these long winter nights. Thanks for keeping the home fires burning...." - John Noyd, "LOCAL ACTION", Maximum Ink, Feb 3 - Mar 5, 2000 |
