Artist description
Very psychedelic improv band with cool grooves and harmonies.Color, the self-titled CD, is a multi-textured, conglomeration of psychedelic sounds and rhythm. The tracks were originally recorded in 1992, but it was never released. The project was abandoned because the group did not feel the music scene would be receptive to such an unusual format at that time. Color features Brian DeBruler on drums, Richie Rudisill on bass and lead vocals, and Mike Mount on guitar. The eight songs on the disc are characterized by a very unique element in that the main melodies of the songs are on the bass guitar. This unusual format stems from Rudisill’s writing most of the songs on his bass. Listening to the CD is an enjoyable experience. Listening to the project from beginning to end can entrance the listener and take them somewhere else. This fifth dimension approach is best experienced through a pair of headphones. “The goal of the album was to paint a vivid mental picture while listening, ” said Rudisill. Anyway you take it, this CD is obviously the result of some very hard work and forethought. The group plans to release a follow up album sometime this spring. |
