Artist History
Seven talented individuals met while attending college in Atlanta, Georgia. They dreamed of making real music with real instruments. And so the Sirius B Project was born into the Atlanta underground scene. Seven years later, their mission remains the same - to bring musicality and originality back into R&B and hip-hop music. The Sirius B Project bridges the gap between hip-hop, R&B & jazz with flavor like Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild and the Roots. Soulful melodies and meaningful lyrics have
parents listening to the Sirius B Project just as keenly as their children. That's why fans at a
Sirius B concert range from 18-40. From college gigs to festivals, clubs and venues, Sirius B has performed throughout the Southeast - from New Orleans to DC. Along the way, members have written for Tamia of Electra, performed with India Arie of Motown, opened for N'Dea Davenport of V2, produced 3 CD's and performed on a popular radio commercial.
What's the secret to their longevity as a group?
Friendship (three members grew up together)and dedication (seven years is a long time!) When Sirius B is not rehearsing, they are recording new music. Everyone in the group writes and produces music for the Project. The members usually write in airs, teach the band, and record the song
live on a digital recorder. Since the group owns 3 recording devices, Sirius B Project is constantly in session. And when they're not recording for Sirius B Project, the members are producing songs for other artists in Atlanta's close-knit soul scene.
The Sirius B Project is at the epicenter of the next generation of music from Atlanta.

Sirius B - "The Sirius B Project"
HOW THIS CD RATES:
Tungz & TaBone rate this CD a 4.25. Melodic gives it a 4.5...
WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE:
Denise Williams meets Pieces Of A Dream.
REVIEW:
DEFINITION: Sirius B: "A white dwarf star invisible to the naked eye, packing the equivalent mass of the sun into an orb 4 times the diameter of the earth, rendering it hotter than the sun. It is estimated to be 8.5 light years distant, and headed directly towards the earth."
There is no name more befitting than this for a group with a heavenly vibe, and music that is out-of-this-world! Coming out of the ATL (watch out Philly…we're on that ass!!!!) we have the incredible, celestial, Sirius B, with "The Sirius B Project".
You know the feeling you get after hours of excruciating yard work in extreme heat, then going into the house and sitting in front of the oscillating fan with a big glass of lemonade as you lay your head back on the sofa??? That's the feeling you get when listening to Sirius B…"cool and refreshing". Paige Lackie, the groups lead singer, has a soprano croon that will instantly put you in the mind of Denise Williams as her angelic voice glides amongst the equally mellow, jazzy tracks. Her lyrics are comforting and reassuring like a motherly hug on songs like "Love Has A Place In Time", while the band's infectious grooves rock you like a cradle into a state of musical bliss. Maintaining primarily a jazz foundation, Sirius B manages to gracefully incorporate influences of Hip-Hop, Soul, and R&B; resulting in a motley of smoothness. You will definitely nod your head, but you won't snap your neck because the groove is to cool for that.
This group shines greatly on tracks where they let the beat roll like "Midnight Silhouette" and "Autumn Breeze"; allowing each instrument to "show-off" like a new kid on the block with the latest PS-2 game. Tracks like "Intuition" and "Believe", where Alex Lattimore emerges as the smooth tenor, places the brass in the lime light which will have you scanning the liner notes expecting to find Grover Washington and/or Russell Gunn on horns!
Another dope track is "Mahogany Boy" where the rhythm rides at a funky "head-sway" tempo, complete with crisp rim shots; reminiscent of the drum-n-bass ending on the song "You Got Me" by The Roots. Probably the most refreshing and promising characteristic of their music is the "food for thought" and "thoughts for the soul" provided by the meaningful lyrics. Jams like "Roll", "U Say", and "Calling" will cause you to take some time out for a little self-reflection. If you are looking for bling-bling, baby daddies, or "thong-th-thong-thong-thongs", you will be wretchedly disappointed. On the other hand, if you are one who enjoys being surrounded in the constant flicker of candle lights, or soaking in tubs, neck-high in bubbles, then this CD is a must buy. This CD will find a comfortable fit in you changer in between Casandra Wilson and Groove Theory.
