Artist History
Their influences range from classic rock bands like David Bowie, The Doors, & Iggy Pop to modern alternative bands like Nine Inch Nails, Bauhaus, Filter, Tool, & the Cure. All of the current members of the band are from the Los Angeles area. Clublive magazine wrote: "A mysterious musical journey into the unknown, Petroleum drives from melody to distortion in a matter of seconds, then entwines the two into a powerful original sound that is truly amazing" Look for their debut album "Emerge" on Digital Vinyl Records. Petroleum got their radio debut by none other then the world famous Los Angeles KROQ DJ "Rodney on the Roq" when the song "drive" was dedicated to Peter Murphy (Bauhaus) on his birthday. Their songs are varied in style, some being more alternative rock (Iggy Pop meets NIN) and others more industrial rock (Sisters of Mercy/Bauhaus/front 242 influence) All of their songs definitely tie together with the very deep and mysterious vocals of Singer/guitarist Brady Poirier. When reviewed by magazines and fans alike, most agree that although the influences of these musicians Pop up from time to time, this band truly has an original sound and style that can't be compared to other bands in their genre |
