Artist description As participants of the Bakersfield Underground Rock Scene, Fester has built quite a following with their unique style. Their style could be described as Alternative, Power Pop, Emo, Indie, Punk, you name it! Although their main influences consist of: Radio Head, Dave Matthews, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Pearl Jam, they have managed to develop a very versatile style of music that can range from slow ballads to hard & fast paced rock. Fester was formed in the summer of 1999 by founders Andy Waite and Rob Matson.

Artist History The band Fester was formed in the summer of 1999. Andy (guitars and backup vocals) met Rob (Lead vocals and guitar) at Rob's birthday party that was being thrown by a mutual friend. Rob had just gotten a new job in Bakersfield and had just moved here and was new to Bakersfield. Rob had brought his guitar to the party and was playing some songs that he had written and Andy was impressed with his vocal talents as well has is writing and guitar playing styles. Andy approached Rob after the party offering to take his songs and record them on his new digital recording studio. Rob took him up on his offer and they began working together on recording a demo later that week. After several recording sessions Rob and Andy talked about forming a band, they needed a bass player and a drummer. Brent (bass and backup vocals) needed some help making a recording of a song he wrote for his friend's wedding and Andy offered to help him out one night while Rob sat in. They ended up jamming together and found that Brent would make a great addition to the band. They only needed one member to complete the band, a drummer. Later after searching for quite a while for a drummer, Kyle (drums and percussion) was introduced to Andy by a friend who knew of the bands search for a drummer. Andy approached Kyle that night with an offer to come jam with the band that night. Later that very same night it was decided that Kyle would complete the band as their drummer and they would begin practices immediately. It was then that the band Fester was born.
