Artist History
Originating from Baton Rouge, Crosstown Traffic has been burning up the town since their debut on the scene in October of 1997. The band has earned itself a reputation as one of the premier bands in the area. Playing over 150 dates in 1998 in more than 25 venues Crosstown Traffic has an ever growing fan base and, currently, sends a monthly mail-out to nearly 1,000 households and businesses in the United States. Reminiscent of such bands as The Doobie Brothers, The Allman Brothers and the Eagles, Crosstown Traffic has brought expertise, versatility and precision back to Rock and Roll and created a sound of their own. The band is well on their way towards having their music heard by a national audience. Only just recently, the band appeared on the Walton and Johnson show in New Orleans and premiered some of their original material. Upon finishing the broadcast, the notoriously critical Walton and Johnson stated "You guys have restored our faith in live music!"... a quote which reached approximately 500,000 listeners that day. Crosstown Traffic has received rave reviews by many local entertainment guides and magazines in Baton Rouge and have been warmly received in every venue they've performed at. In October of 1999, the band won the Budweiser Battle of the Bands at Club LaVela in Panama City Beach, Florida. Out of twenty bands from the Southeast United States, Crosstown Traffic won the awards for "1999 Best Band" and "Best Keyboardist."In 1998, CTT opened up for such bands as The Little River Band, War, Zebra, and Grammy nominee Irma Thomas. Members of the band have also recently taken part in a salute to Louisiana legends and taken the stage with blues legends Tabby Thomas, Raful Neal, and Henry Gray from the late Howlin' Wolf. With live shows said to bring those on hand back to the days of Woodstock and the Filmores, Crosstown Traffic is sure to be a success. With each member showing a proficiency in multiple instruments, vocal harmonies ranging from three to five parts, and an extreme respect for the music they perform, Crosstown Traffic pays homage to the great bands which gave birth to the rock music of today. The group's love of music and dedication to achieve their goal keeps them driven to improve every day in the hope of one day achieving their dreams. |
