Press Reviews
03/25/00: "Smashing show (literally) at the Beer Mug last night! Berzerker lived up to their flyer's statement of 'garage band hell, brewed locally' and did not disappoint us by laying down some serious NYC style, late 70's rock n' roll in their unknown to them at the time 'first set'. Some punk-ass band from Cleveland, the Chargers, thrashed and trashed the place next by expending all of their adolescent energy in a quick 1 hour romp that included a great Stooges cover, TV Eye, but also had us witnessing a guitarist slugging other peoples' unfinished drinks and then smashing the glasses & bottles on the floor, another guitarist pouring ice water over his bandmates, the singer and a roadie rolling on the wet, glass covered floor tangled up in the mike cord and another guitarist climbing into the drum set while it was still being played. Then that was it, like a tornado, as soon as it started it was over, at 1:00am they were spent. All very entertaining but it makes you wonder if they're that spasmodic and quick to tire in bed as they are on stage. I tried to reach a groupie for comment, but they didn't have any. After they left the bar a few drink glasses short and everyone wondering if they knew that water and electricity don't mix, Berzerker, not one to disappoint or leave social obligations unfulfilled, pulled out their gear again. One by one they eased into an unpracticed, but heartfelt set of Stones and Shay McGowan covers accompanied by varoius back up singers that included female friends of band memebers known for their late night dance parties, as well as the proprieter of the Beer Mug, Paul. Great fun for all who weren't playing pool or picking up broken glass. I'll definately be at the next Berzerker show to see what level of garage band hell they take it to next."
