    Artist History
In 1996 Thirst released its debut Album “Through The Wire” on Iguana Records (produced by Nico Bolas). The response was over 200 adds at College and AAA radio in its first two weeks. Unfortunately Iguana, hampered by its limited distribution, was unable to capitalize on the opportunity provided by this exposure. Thirst left the label in early 1997. 1997 and 1998 were restructuring years with band leader Mark Christensen, bassist Frank Carreno and Drummer Lex Dunbar adding two new members; guitarist/producer Mike Caffrey and Keyboardist Bill Norman. Over the past two years Caffrey and Chirstense have pooled the resources from their two businesses Caffrey’s recording studio and Christensen’s Mastering and CD production facility to continue making music free of label constraints. The results are Thirst’s second album “The Dangerous Cousin of Dogmatism” (Monster Island - 1999) and the beginning of a third as yet untitled album. The musical style has continually evolved with two constants, attention to songwriting and importance of groove. Through the Wire features several driving yet dancable rock track such as Climb, Eskimos, Gyrate, Twister and No Mercy. The tracks deep Blue Sea Bricks and Clay and This Is the Hour are dynamic open ballads which is a sound that Thirst is continuing to develop.Thirst’s second album The Dangerous Cousin of Dogmatism continues to develop both of these two sounds. Highlights from Dogmatism are grove heavy Everything as well as three songs, Rise, Blood and Untitled 6:30am that were Caffrey’s first involvement with the band before joining in the Spring of 1998. The ballad highlights are Raise the Devil, Nerve and Round Midnight, the latter engineered and mixed by Kevin Salem. The most recent six months have focused more on the dynamic ambient ballads. The newest three songs are the epic Rescue Me featuring a brilliant string arrangement by keyboardist Bill Norman, the textural Upside with layered dobro guitars and tremoloed Ebowed guitars, and the floating Keep It Happening.Thirst is preparing to shop these three new songs as well as working on more new recording in early 2000, possibly with Kevin Salem getting involved with the production. Press Reviews
"With over 200 adds at College and AAA radio in its first two weeks, Thirst is poised to become one of the most influential bands of the 90's"-John Schoenberger, Album Network....."The palette is immense, the colors of the aural spectrum almost infinite. "......"A collection of songs that stand strong and proud."..... "An unyielding focus on the songwriting."....... "Christensen has a distinctively emotive voice and a soft introspective manner."..... "disarmingly intelligent"........ "Music for me is a primal thing; visceral and instinctual. The challenge is pulling together all the loose ends of those intangible gut feelings into a well-crafted song." -Mark Christensen
