Press Reviews
Bright young things. After last issue's look at mega bands on the net, Sean Hannam goes all underground on us and finds out what unsigned genius is available in MP3 form.
Bonemachine
The internet is an ideal medium ofr Bonemachine's hard, dark, cyber sounds. Formed in 1999, the band reached the final 16 (out of 3000) in last year's Unsigned Unsealed competition, sponsored by Roland, Warner and EMI. The press have compared them to artists such as Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, Death in Vegas and Primal Scream but they're more like a heavy-duty Garbage crossed with Nine Inch Nails.
Male and female vocals collide with samples, scaborous, oily guitars, hard-as-nails sequencer lines and electronic beats. Bonemachine's free MP3 downloads include the squalling shouty techno-goth of Love Is? and the thrashy, futuristic punk track Istand. If you're into wearing black leather, live with your mum, like watching Robot Wars and think that The Matrix is the best film ever, you'll love 'em.
