Artist History
'Man vs. Beast' came to fruition, as the best records often do, through a natural and informal series of collaborations, with Austin-based producer and artist Craig Ross at his studio, The Darkroom. The disc also includes sessions with Abra Moore producer and guitarist Mitch Watkins, and such guests as singer-songwriter Patty Griffin and Texas singer-songwriter legend Ray Wylie Hubbard.Ohio born and bred, Campbell led Loose Diamonds through four releases that earned the band critical acclaim, industry awards, and fans across America and Europe (where they toured nine times, including dates with Bob Dylan and Joe Ely.) Their album 'Burning Daylight' won the NAIRD Indie Award for Best Rock Album, while their EP 'Fresco Fiasco' was named by the New York Ti mes as one of 1996's top 10 albums. Campbell also co-produced an all-star tribute to the songs of Jo Carol Pierce that won Album of the Year honors at the 1996 Austin Music Awards, as well as garnering Campbell the Best Producer Award. Since going solo after Loose Diamonds went on extended hiatus, Campbell has been road-testing his new material on tour with Patty Griffin, Steve Forbert, Jonatha Brooke and James McMurtry. In the summer of 1998, he was invited to participate in the presitigious Song Is land songwriters gathering in Denmark with Danish superstar Poul Krebs and American songwriting legend David Olney. As a solo artist, Campbell emerges as an artist of uncommon emotional impact and musical charm, treating listeners to inspiring new directions from a truly noteable American rock 'n' roller. April 29, 2002 finds Campbell releasing 'American Breakdown' in Europe on Evangeline Recorded Works (UK), and May 28 'American Breakdown' hits stores in the U.S. on M-Ray Records |
