Artist History
Formed in a hot and humid Cincinnati basement, Chip Kellam, Casey Beagle and Rob Schumacher began to write intelligent and emotionally driven punk rock as Saturday Supercade (The Cade) in the summer of 1996. After just a short couple of months the band had produced a 10-Song demo, which coupled with extensive regional shows started to gain them a large fan base. Eager to release more material, The Cade headed back into the studio and created a 4 song 7" in February of 1997. This record helped the band gain even more momentum and the recognition of a NYC-based punk label Red Leader Records (RLR). In late 1997, the band released their debut full-length "A Study In Adult Contemporary Punk Rock" on RLR and have since been on three eastern/midwest tours in support of it, playing with bands like River City High, New Found Glory, Saves The Day, Less Than Jake, The Weatherthans, Elliot, Kill Your Idols, Midtown, Cooter, Weston, The Movielife, Samiam, At The Drive-In, Slick Shoes and Bigwig.Their debut album appealed to a wide audience with its lyrical satire on subjects such as anorexia and learning to deal with growing up, as well as songs written about heartbreak and friendships. The success of these tours heightened the bands enthusiasm to further develop their pop punk sound. With the recent addition of second guitarist Brian Niesz and new drummer George Jesse (former member of By The Grace Of God, Victory Records) The Cade has just finished recording their most powerful, sensible and well-rounded album to date. This new full length recorded and produced at Atlas Studios in early 2001 by Matt Allison (Alkaline Trio, Sarge) features 12 catchy songs continuing on the same political and emotional lyrical trend of all the preceding records.Exciting live shows and powerful song writing have helped keep the band on the list of up and coming bands for 2001. Having found a solid line up for the future willing and able to tour their hearts out, Saturday Supercade looks forward to finishing out 2001 by completing a full US tour that will lead them well into 2002. |
