Artist History SANCTION first appeared in Los Angeles as a lighter pop/rock band in the year 2000 by way of frontman, Jay Haggis, and drummer, Paul Hughes. But the group went through a transformation in late 2001 when guitarist, Jesse Beckman, answered an ad in the local music trades and was recruited into the group. The direction of their sound took a sharp turn as Jesse brought with him the musical depth and dark "edge" that was needed to back up the intensity of Jay's vocals. The final piece was found when Jake Knight was added to round-out the line up as the band's live bass player. As a result, the songs got stronger, the shows got louder, and the fans responded. - This in turn led SANCTION into the studio. Embracing the high energy and edgy style that had consumed both their songs and their live shows, the band recorded "3 songs." In order to build on the momentum created by "3 songs" and the band's energy-driven live show, SANCTION has recently gone back into the studio to expand on their sound with a new demo. Having finally found their sound and attitude, the group has enjoyed mounting success playing some of the biggest and best of the Los Angeles club scene. And this is only the beginning...
