Artist History
From Manhattan clubs, to Catskill Mountain resorts. From albums to TV themes, song contests to commercials, film scores to theatre, Neal Fox has done it all. After playing in bands such as the High Times and Feather Merchants, Fox landed a series of recording deals on Polydor, Columbia and RCA Records. First, as part of the duo, Mancini and Fox, and then as a solo artist. Among Fox's releases are, "But I Could Reach the Wisdom of Solomon," "The Colors are Still There," "See You on Sunday," "A Painting," and the Top 10 Dance Club hit, "In the Jungle."Next, Fox was offered a publishing deal with MCI's Infinity. He also wrote the music for a Ford commercial that started another career.Relocating to San Diego, Fox met two other talented writers, Rick Patterson and Ron Walz. The three partners formed the successful La Costa based music production company, Patterson, Walz & Fox, which produces music for commercials, television themes and promos for all the major networks.Somewhere between Coke and VH-1, Fox found the time for several new ventures. He co-scored two of the Killer Tomatoes movies with composer-arranger Rick Patterson. Then, as an artist, Fox illustrated a series of children's books based on the multi-ethnic characters he created called the Confetti Company. The popular book-cassette series, scored by Fox and narrated by actor Robert Guillaume, was the basis for a series of animated features on HBO. Following that, Fox wrote his first full length musical, Meat Street, a controversial play exposing abuses in the mental health profession. The double-CD score to Meat Street, released on Fox's own indie label, Wire Duck Records, has already aired on several show music programs and has gotten rave reviews ("an exhilarating score," "wacky and provocative," "rock anthems and impassioned ballads"). This brings Fox full circle with the official launch of his label and two new releases, Hotel del Swell, and HiPOCRACY. (Fox also designed the company's web site.) With a production of Meat Street tentatively scheduled for October 2000 in Orlando, exciting times are ahead for this prolific and ever-changing artist. And if you think that there are no fields left for him to conquer, watch out. Fox has his eye on some video equipment. |

Press Reviews
"Fox is a Brooklyn writer-singer... a rueful Randy Newman eccentric who tells semi-surrealistic little stories in clean, spare melody lines and lyrics within matchingly uncluttered orchestral productions".
