Artist History
Karen Kirkland b.1963. Two children, Joanna and Ceri (9 and 11years). Educated at Abraham Darby School, Shropshire. Studied for a music degree at the University College of Cardiff and the University of Birmingham. Returned to Shropshire in 1985 as a music teacher. Left teaching to have a family, Ceri in 1998 and Joanna in 1990. Returned to music writing own songs and performing professionally when the children started school. June 1998 featured on Carlton Television as finalist in the Alternative Song for Europe. Finished 2nd out of 293 including entries from Majorca and Jersey with a song called “Let the Children Play”. This song was inspired by the terrible events in Bosnia. Versatile musician playing clarinet, saxophone,flute and keyboard, writing with meaningful lyrics and powerful melodies.
