Artist History
Forming in late 1994, Johnny Millennium emerged on the Vancouver scene with a 6 song EP titled "Tarkin". This rare gem gained them much attention from Canadian major record labels as well as Green Day's manager in San Fran. Opening for "Pavement" at the Commodore in late January of '96 was one of the last grand live shows for the band. After the release of a 10 song CD in '96, entitled "ZAP", the band retreated into the bowels of their hidden basement fortress where they accessed rooms stocked with tempermental equipment and gadgetry. In this recording environment, and with the mastering help of (ex-Pure) member Mark Henning, 7 new songs were to be brought to the public. What happened next was to be to become known as "ZeroZero". |

Press Reviews
Off Beat Magazine reviewing "Tarkin" EP: "Their 6 song cassette has graced the presence of my stereo and will never leave. You can't just play it once, and I have a similar problem with the Lemonhead's It's a Shame about Ray. Don't get me wrong, they don't sound like the Lemonheads, but have that perfect pop that sticks in my melon for days. Tracks like "Terminal" and "Super Abilities" have an REM "Out of Time" feel, but they also speed things up with "Lock-on, Lift off", and "Speed". This band certainly has a sweet aftertaste." Discorder Magazine reviewing CITR's Shindig band competition: "Johnny Millennium were on last, and right from the first song you could tell that they would win. Lots of British influences from the likes of Supergrass, Oasis and Blur made for songs that were far above the offerings of the other groups heard on this night". |
