    Artist History
In a time of jiggy r&b and neo-classic soul a new style of music is bubbling up from the streets of Los Angeles. A blend of classic soul, new school hip-hop, and jazz. A new genre of urban music for the next millenium. dminor, who's musical influences range from such contemporary artists as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Miles Davis, has been cultivating his love for music from an early age. Starting early on in his career, dminor worked with many well known artists, including Al Jarreau, Harry Belafonte, "Aladdin" and "Beauty and the Beast" composer Alan Menken, and more recently, The Beastie Boys. Having seen the in's and out's of the music business he has decided to make his stake in the industry with his first self written, arranged, and engineered EP, featuring production by dminor, Pharaoh MC, as well as DJ Cheapshot(Styles Of Beyond). So sit back, relax.and feel the vibe.

Mixmag - July 2001 - "Can't Let You" The 80's style soul of dminor is a welcome respite from the boundless jiggery-pokery of modern r&b that often gives you an itchy arse. "Can't Let You" is a sweet song, dminor's voice perfectly complimented by some sparse but deep production (work that one out). This is so smooth you have to stretch out the vowels and add a "v". Smoooooov. PN Muzik - June 2001 - "All I Do" From the UK label that brought us Derrick Dixson's sublime "Got To Get It" comes another EP of American sourced indie r&b. dminor is an LA based signer-songwriter who's worked with the likes of Al Jarreau, but has also laid down beats for indie hip hoppers such as styles of beyond and lexicon. A mostly down tempo affair, the track that catched the ear is the vibey "All I Do". Look out for an album soon. DJ - June 2001 - "All I Do" Not the Stevie song, though this magnificent soulful track does echo of the Stevies and Marvins. This guy oughta be up there with the Maxwells, R. Kelly's and D'Angelos. This could be the quiet storm cut of the year. declicious, romantic soul. Guys: but it! Ladies: demind it! Nuff said. Includes the sweet dreamy soulster "Over n' Over" and the street soulster "Can't Let You" Wax - June 2001 - "Can't Let You/Over n' Over/All I Do" This new artist out of Los Angeles continues that high quality soul/jazz/hip-hop sound that is so refreshing at the moment. dminor not only sings but also writes and produces. "Can't Let You" reminds me of the classic Kool n' the Gang track "Summer Madness" with its warm rhodes sound and mid tempo swaying rhythm. "Over n' Over" takes us further downtempo with a jazzy sultry feel. The EP is rounded off with a beautifully jazzy sounding ballad, which clearly shows this man has a lot of talent. The good news is a debut album will follow later this year. DJ - June 2001 - "Can't Let You/Over n' Over/All I Do" "All I do" is real downtempo with sultry keys tinkling over the lazy rimshot and kick drum that beats out a slow erratic pulse. dminor compliments the smoove runnings with vocal parts that could melt even the most vexedof women. Benn out all night? dminor could save your ass! Delite records and Kool n' the Gang supply the break for "can't Let You", you might recall the gentle warbling keys from Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince's "Summertime". We are treated to a lovely mid-paced cut that relies solely on the stunted Kool n' the Gang keys sample to dress up the walking pace over bass and snare. "Over n' Over" untilises yet another well laid back electric keys sample combined with a shimmering violin. dminor turns out more chilled vocals and shows why the likes of Al Jarreau and crooner Harry Belafonte have all relied on the LA-based vocalist for vocal back up.
