Artist History
Jammin' Michael J (DJ Michael J): Born Michael J. Maione in New Brunswick, New Jersey, USA, on October 4th, 1967. He began playing the guitar at the age of 9, and greatly improving through the years. JMJ also discovered his natural ear for harmonies, melodies, and the like. Realizing his tremendous potential, JMJ made it a goal to be involved in the music industry.
Throughout his life, Jammin’ Michael has always been involved with music in some way. He began disc-jockeying in 1989, starting his own company, Wired For Sound DJ’s, of which he still DJ’s for to this day.
In 1993, using a 4-Track recorder, JMJ wrote, recorded, and produced his own independent album, “Forget About Me”, which was a local hit. On this album, Michael J showed his musical prowess by playing not only guitar, but keyboard, as well as sequencing the drums, bass, and other effects electronically.
Though involved with a non-music related job, Jammin’ Michael J kept at his DJ’ing, and soon enough found his way into the world of digital music production. In 1999, he wrote and produced a dance album titled “My World”, which was followed up in 2000 by the workout-friendly “Sweat is Your Friend.”
It was at this point that JMJ launched his mp3.com website and began making his music more accessible to the public. His third album, “Enter Helmetta” was his best work yet, combining elements of not only dance, but hip-hop, trance, and techno, with his trademark samples sprinkled throughout. Through mp3.com, he also released the song, “I’m Coming Back”, which he not only composed, but sang as well. Around this time, other aspiring artists began to take notice of Michael J’s work, and in the latter half of 2000, he began his first work with another artist, writing and producing “Do The Right Thing” with the talented Paris Leslie. Remixing songs for other artists soon followed.
Using his natural ability and his knowledge of digital workstations and digital sequencers and software, JMJ was able to remix songs quickly and professionally. By 2001, Jammin’ Michael J had produced or remixed a half dozen artists. In the summer of that year, JMJ was offered an opportunity to remix a highly well known song by a famous artist, which he did to perfection. This project is soon to be released and more info will be posted when that time comes. He is currently working with aspiring singers from around the United States, and even Canada.
Please check back often for JMJ’s success stories and accomplishments. There are big names to mention, big projects to speak of, but at this time they must be kept under wraps until completion.

Press Reviews
Press and Professional Reviews:Melissa Piazza, staff writer of Listen.Com:Hard House grooves blended with evil motives. Jarring electronics put you on edge while powerful beats force you onto the dance floor! The Indie Music Forum, New York, USA: "911" from "My World" Nice Groove, elements put together well. If people in dance clubs don't dance to this, then they need kicking! Overall Vibe: DANCE DANCE DANCE!Lora Mao, Singazone:You'll definitely get up and dance to these cool electronic hits. I can see his music in all the clubs some day and even MTV.Lindi Heart, female DJ from Australia:Hey there, your songs are unreal. I cant get over 911; I love to listen to it. I think Ill give it another play now. Im a female DJ in Australia but my stuff I dont think is as good as yours. So keep up the good work! Love Lindi http://www.mp3.com/lindiheart Joe Marotta, Script Sketch Productions: 9 well-produced dance House songs...sure to get you going." DJ Michael J's first album, titled My World, featuring 9 well-produced dance-House songs, is sure to get you going. From the opening Launch of track one, with its intricate bass riff and sound effects that fit like an old shoe, to the fast dance beat of The Ride on track two, complete with a female voice saying "Please fasten your seatbelts". Track three, titled 911, features spooky bass and drum combos, including an ultra-fast drum fill that will totally knock you senseless. 911 is the kind of song that conveys anger; the kind of song that if you're listening to it in the car, you'll drive a little faster. Bound, the album's fourth song, kicks it off with an apocalyptic drum beat and bass riff, which builds little by little before invoking more good old synth effects. Bass, #5, features a piano phase, a guy saying "Bass" over and over, a Disco-esque drumbeat, and flanging effects. Good track. The albums title track, My World, has a definite sound of the future. With a scary beginning that turns to an upbeat piano riff, a Darth Vader-ish voice saying "You're in My World now; there's no escape, etc", and an uplifting drumbeat, I can literally picture this as the beginning to a movie about the future! |
