Formed in the summer of 97 Derail has come along way for the backyard parties which gave them their start. After years of refining their sound Derail has matured in to one of the most talked about bands. Derail's Emotionally charged lyrics and engaging use of dynamics define their guitar driven anthems and establish them as a true talent amidst the indie scene. Derail's sound appeals to everybody from KROQ kids to punkers to the fashion clad emo scenesters. Emo-pop that is dynamic, catchy, and powerful. |

Press Reviews
www.IndyRock.com Now that the Get Up Kids have gone for high production, the youth will come up from the streets to battlelike taggers in a graffiti covered world. Derail have all the elements of success within these 9 tracks. This disc is packed full of in your face post-punk emo with the delivery of a 3rd album; I believe this is their first release. Red Sky Charlie brings me back to Jawbreakers whack and blight days, fine times with pure and raw aggression which really says something. You can tell how much these kids care about what their doing. Every note and every breath pushes the 110% percent mark. At times they strike chords that sound so much like Boilermaker, but then shift into a whole new direction. If nothing else, I would suggest seeing this band live as i'm sure they put on one hell of a show. Mark this album as remarkable and memorable as "4 minute mile", with early Promise Ring influences shining high through the vocal melodies. _______________________________ Geek America | issue sevenp.o. box 3195 daina point, ca 92626A great new emo/rock band. It seems like it’s been a while since we’ve heard some talented musicians coming into the scene. Derail’s been around for a long while, but they finally recorded and put out this awesome creation. If you were ever inclined to check out something based on a review, make it his. For fans of Jimmy eat World, No Knive, ect. _______________________________ Skratch Issue # 14 Sept. 1999pmb #223 17300 17th st. suit J tustin, ca 92780...This O.C. four-piece combines musical flavors of pop and emo with their own flair. Conjuring up a sound reminiscent to that of the get up kids, the current incarnation of Jimmy Eat World , and a touch of Weezer, Derail shines through on their full-length debut CD. Check out the tracks “Complex Complex”, “Prelude” and the infectious “Tall Ships Parade.” If you want to check out that cool new local band that will be tomorrow’s hot new thing, then Derail is the band for you. _______________________________ heartattack issue #24p.o. box 848 goleta, ca 93116This Orange County indy rock band contains members of Stickfigurecarousel, but don’t let that fool you . They are very much like The Get Up Kids, Except not annoying. Upbeat poppy, rockin. Indie rock fans really would appreciate this. My friend Melissa absolutely LOVED this CD... _______________________________ Status Magazine p.o. box 1500 thousand oaks,ca 91358I remember seeing these guys’ first show... I wasn’t too impressed. Then I saw them Play about 6 months later and I was really impressed on how much they had improved. Now hearing their CD for the first time, I’m really really impressed. At first I thought they were just another cheesy rock band, but i was wrong. Rock songs totally put together well. If you are down for some good ass rock, then this is for you. |
