Artist History
Michigan songwriter Ben MacArthur began his career in the early 80's as the front man for the progressive rock outfit which took his name "MacArthur". Along with multi instrumentalist Bill Heffelfinger, bassist Scott Stockford and drummer Jeff Bauer, the band created two albums featuring a fusion of Heffelfinger's classic rock roots and MacArthur's visionary lyricisms and soaring melodic styles. Just how far MacArthur's music could have reached is evidenced by pirated copys of the bands first album which recently turned up in Europe. The audience for MacArthurs visionary music has certainly not diminished over the years as prog-rock has proven to have a lasting influence and legacy all its own. Recently MacArthur has resumed plans to rerecord classic selections from its first two records. Lets hope it works out! Ben MacArthur spent most of the 80's and 90's raising his family, occasionally sprinting out to some event to prove he is still alive. In the earlys 90's he released "SOLO" a collection of his songs in a accoustic setting. His music speaks of the struggles, triumphs and trials of humanity. The songs of Ben MacArthur, a true American original, tell the story of mankind, who despite all his many achivements, continues to fall short of gods grace. --D. Asher, Review Magazine |
