Artist History
Formed in 1991. Original members were Pete on vocals, Mike on bass, Jon on drums, and Scott G. on guitar. Over the years some members changed, mostly bassists. We added Scott Dorey, a long time friend of the band, as a second guitarist in 1995/6 after our short tour with Ignite. The band eventually split up in 1997 for various reasons. In the end, BACKLASH had released three and a half 7"s (Not My Kind was a single sided 7"), one 12", one full length cd, one discography (just released) and appeared on numerous compilations. THANKS to eveyone who ever helped us out. Cheers! BACKLASH |

Press Reviews
"endangered species" fanzine vol. 2, #2"This is like Chain of Strength from way back when. There's a huge sound coming from this small red record. In the stop and go fashion of HC recently, Backlash explodes with sonic magnitude. without such excellent playing, these guys couldn't get away with what they are accomplishing here, at an unyielding pace. it is also impossible to get anybody to sing backups as tightly as they've done here. side B is the stronger side featuring "I'll Get Mine" and it's outstanding drumwork. There's a touch of a post HC feel which adds to the complexity of the music. the more I list to it, this is one helluva good song. Damn, listen to Backlash really loud, this record deserves it. NO LABELS MAGAZINE # 3 SPRING 1996 (NYC)...”No Reason Why Not CD”BACKLASH are more than good, they’re fucking awesome! Like STRIFE, BACKLASH have that metallic sound, but they possess a little more. The vocals range from straight-up positive, screaming on the first track “Self Assured” to a groove like on “No More Reason” which reminds me of something INSIDE OUT* might have done. So if I’m comparing these guys to STRIFE and INSIDE OUT, then I don’t think anything else needs to be mentioned. Great positive lyrics, great music, and great energy- this is what we need more of and BACKLASH are one of the few bands that do it, and they do it right. It was Pat West** that wrote, “BACKLASH kick UNBROKEN’s ass.” and he’s fucking right on!*Zack De La Rocha of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE’s old band**Pat West is the editor and writer of CHANGE FANZINE (CT) |
