Artist History
Your Silent Face started in 1990 as Ci2i.Over the past nine years the band has been busy recording and playing shows around the Midwest. The songs "Hurts to Leave You" and "Imaginary Love Affair" earned airtime in Missouri,Kansas,Colorado, and Ohio. Following the release of "Sight" the band played shows with old MTV favorites Missing Persons and A Flock Of Seagulls. In 1998 the band changed it's name to YOUR SILENT FACE and recorded some of their best work to date on the album "Static". YSF is currently working with new musicians to bring their fans a new cd and hopefully some live appearances. |

Press Reviews
Static/Pop + Circumstance: Your Silent Face used to be Ci2i. On one hand not a lot has changed, but some of the pop gloss on the Ci2i debut has been ripped away to reveal a more raw sound. Some of that may just be production, but also YSF seems less sunny than Ci2i. Still, they seem to have a knack for writing good songs. "Greed" recalls the big sound of the late 80's, big drums and big production.YSF straddle the world between synthpop and darkwave very well. Less organic than Hednoize, YSF fully embrace the darkness of electronic music without giving into the cliches. The "problem" with Static is that it is almost too mature for the genre. This is the kind of stuff that should be on a major label and being played on modern rock stations. I hope that doesn't come off as an insult, it certainly isn't meant as one. Itis just that if you are looking for the pop of Ci2i then you might be surprised at how far along the band has come."Pop and Circumstance" is much more like the old days. More direct, less atmosphere and much more synthpoppy. "Love Online" practically screams Blancmange or Dead or Alive. I preferred this EP to Static, but that may just be my hopelessly retro tastes. It is nice to see that YSF/Ci2i have a broad range of styles and throughout them all manage to make good songs and good music. Keep an, um, eye out for them. (DR, Lexicon Magazine: New Wave and Beyond) |
