Artist History
back in '93, Mitch started pestering the co-founder of the band, Levi, to get together and jam w/ him.....months went by and finally, Levi agreed.at first, the pair were content to play cover tunes of their favorite rock/metal bands....playing in basements and bedrooms of friends' houses and habitually causing neighbors to call police due to the noise..One day,Mitch comes to practice, and says, 'hey, check out this song i made up- it kinda sucks, but here it is.... ' Well, Levi took a listen to the first few bars of 'Haulin'Ass', which he named on the spot, and said, "dude, we're not playing covers anymore" , at which point Mitch asked," we're not?" ,and Levi said, 'no, we're doing originals from now on' , and Metal Kage was born.the band's first original show was on valentine's day, 1994,in a private biker club owned by local motorcycle club the gypsy jokers.....we played for exactly 9 people, there was a guy rebuilding his harley on the dance floor in front ot the ten-inch high 5x10' stage...we had about 7 songs finished....moving on to bigger and better things, the band eventually played clubs in everett, seattle, kent, sumner, and also a show in a small town in alaska called 'alaskastock' ....the band has gone through multiple personnel changes, mostly drummers, as the style of playing the band does is so physically demanding, and the band's play anywhere, anytime attitude was also found disdainful to some former members...eventually, metal kage's name was changed to simply 'kage' to help obtain shows at certain clubs where the word 'metal' in the band name caused their doors to mysteriously slam shut for us....unbeknownst to us, there were already a couple other bands using the name kage, so we have recently changed our name to 'unkaged' , and checked with the band registry and ultimate band list to ascertain that we were indeed the only ones on record...so now, with our new name, UNKAGED, and our original name ,METAL KAGE, we are still playing shows here in the seattle area, and preparing to record a couple new cd's with our new lineup. |

Group Members
Mitch,co-founder,lead vocals,rhythm/lead guitar. Mitch has been playing guitar since he was 12,(he's '30-something' now)and singing for fun all his life. He never intended to sing in a band, however ,early on the band discovered the set of problems that a lead singer introduced to a band, and decided that he would simply take on the job himself, that way the band wouldnt have to wait and search for 'just the right sound' for our band and songs....Ian,lead/rhythm guitars. Ian's tight, clean playing and interesting solo stylings are sure to please any lover of great guitar music.Drew, drums/percussion. Drew's original stylings, slammingly tasteful fills and thundering rolls complete the second half of Unkaged's rhythm section. |

Instruments
Mitch plays Gibson guitars, with digitech effects, and Marshall amplification into eminence loudspeakers. Ian plays Ibanez and BC Rich guitars, .......... Drew Plays ludwig drums, zildjian and sabian cymbals among many others. |
