"A kick-ass rock/metal band from Dayton, OH. Shovelhead will rock your socks off. I listened to their Mp3 Shed Your Skin - it kicked me in the face! If you like bangin’ yer head, this one’s for you, man!!"....*Cleveland Metal.......... "June 19: You haven’t really lived until you’ve been a short person in the middle of a heavy metal audience - exactly what happened to me at the Shovelhead CD release party at Ned’s Roadhouse. Standing along the fringe of the crowd as guitarist Darrell Daniels jumped around on stage, I was tossed from side to side until some kind man finally lifted me up and perched me on a platform. Mike Compton’s take-charge vocal style led the crowd (which included grizzled biker types as well as scantily-clad women) through chest-thumping rock tunes from the band’s self-titled second disc..."... *Dayton Daily News, "10 Best Local Shows of 1999".......... "I saw this amazing band the other night...called Shovelhead, and I just couldn’t believe these guys haven’t been noticed yet."... *S. Ahlin, as posted on the Pan Network’s Music Industry Community Center Music Business Forum.......... "Arguably the biggest rock band in the Dayton area, Shovelhead has just released their second effort. This time around, they hold nothing back. You won’t find any wimpy ballads on this one...just full-on kick-ass rock...With the recent popularity of highly aggressive rock, these guys fit right in."... *Tony Peters, DJ and host of the Local Music Show on WING-FM (102.9) in Dayton.......... "Hard-working Dayton, OH, band with hard, meaningful music. Much more effective than caffeine."... *www.hotbands.com.......... "Got to see Dayton rockers Shovelhead and Dr. X at Twister’s the other night. The show was great, and both bands rocked out hard. Twister’s was packed to the gills with the bands’ fans, and the crowd was treated to some great, original rock music, proving once again that the longer a band has been together, the tighter and better the music gets."... *Dayton Daily News.......... "Shovelhead’s CD kicks ass! I really like that band. They are getting airtime on Johnny Metal Update."... *Johnny Metal, host of JMU on DATV Channel 20 in Dayton.......... "The word-of-mouth on Shovelhead is there. What helps them out is they’re not as common as everyone else. They have more of a radio-rock sound, and they need to stay with what’s gotten them this far."... *Javan Gilbert, assistant manager, Methods of Mayhem.......... "Excellent release from local band Shovelhead. This album starts off sounding a little like the band Creed, but quickly blasts past those comparisons with intensity. I have been playing this CD almost non-stop for the past few months I’ve had it - I like it that much. The songs Denial and Frustrated being my personal favorites. Most of these songs either make me want to drive fast in my car or break stuff in my house."... *Johnny Death, Mutant Renegade Zine.......... "Local bands Shovelhead, Dr. X, Assailant and Glitch have set the bar pretty high, and the clubs that cater to that sound expect a high-quality performance."... *Dayton Daily News.......... "From the city that has the flag factory for Goodyear, to the city that has the headquarters for Goodyear, I invite one and all to listen to the down and dirty, polluted sounds of a heavy metal band that can kick ass and take names when they're on stage."... *TFS-Metal2 Radio - MP3.com
