Artist description
Over the
course of their existence, Radakka have become an institution by packing
local clubs and halls with the power and conviction of their incredible
delivery, and in the process have established a strong and loyal fan base in
Chicago and surrounding Midwest regions. The band honed and perfected
their compositional skills with live performances, and through several
widely successful demo tapes started receiving international press
exposure. Radakka’s hard work and dedication to their music finally paid
off in 1995 when Century Media took notice of their talents and
convictions, and quickly signed the band to a worldwide contract.
Radakka had an impressive list of over 35 songs to choose from when
recording their Century Media debut, Malice and Tranquillity, in late
1995. Very removed from the American pop-punk and low-end trends of
the time, Malice... was released in Europe where traditional/progressive
metal has been widely supported this decade, while import orders and
sales in the States began to appear at an alarming rate. An album that
opened thousands of eyes with songs that imbedded themselves in
peoples’ minds from the initial listen, Malice... was one of several
releases that spearheaded the resurgence of the genre here in North
America. Radakka became a US cult phenomenon, and European ears
hailed the record as a debut masterpiece. After more than two years of
writing since their acclaimed debut, Radakka felt that it was time to step
up and show the world just how powerful and lasting their songs had
become. It is with the same kind of conviction and songwriting knack that
was shown on their debut that Radakka now offer their second effort,
Requiem For The Innocent. Once again ridden with sheer talent and
possessing even more mature structures and songs, Requiem... is an album
to which fans and musicians can look to for inspiration and fulfillment.
With the band's diversity and modern approach to a traditional hard
rock/metal sound, Radakka display a kind of musical depth and undeniable
class that far surpasses that of most rock and metal giants. With that in
mind, it isn’t hard to understand why it took almost three years for the
band to follow up their boastful debut. Guitarist Michael Posch states
confidently, “Our goal is to make music on a level that all serious bands
strive for, only a few can achieve, and even fewer can control." |

Artist History
Formed in their hometown of Chicago,
Illinois at the end of the ‘80s, Radakka have always striven to write and
perform a style of music that is emotionally directed and written with
pride and vigor, regardless of its commercial accessibility or lack of
trendiness. Specializing in a memorable, hard-hitting classic metal sound
that stresses vocal importance and strong melodies, the quartet
consistently refuse to succumb to current musical fads and stick to their
guns by letting their high-quality songwriting speak for itself. |
