Press Reviews
The Courier-News, Thursday January 7th, 1999, By Chris M. Junior - "Some musicians refuse to use modern technology; others welcome it with open arms. New Jersey's own Psonica falls into the latter category. Like Canada's Econoline Crush, Psonica's sound has a traditional rock foundation (guitar, bass and drums) that is embellished with programmed loops and passages..."
Steppin' Out Magazine, Rant 'n Rave, April 8th, 1998, By Leslie Gold - "Psonica's self-titled release is a study in contradictions - it melds good old rock-n-roll with avant garde electronica, forming what the band calls a marriage between man and machine. It mixes spontaneity with programmed passages and sampled clips, and the end result is a crisp, original sound - the band calls that "enhanced noise." Noise it ain't though, at least not by the definition of noise as unpleasant, unrhythmic chaos. Nope, the six tracks on this disc are rather pleasantly rhythmic, with some surprising twists and turns. The levels of talent and recording quality on Psonica's disc are remarkably high what most bands shoot for and simply don't achieve. |
