Artist History
With fiery technical brilliance and breathtaking musical interpretation, Neil Zaza has defined himself as the instrumental guitarist with an unparalleled ability to combine solid, catchy songwriting with a keen melodic sense and technical fury. From his virtuoso rock solos, to laying a funk groove, to his playing the guitar like a piano (where he demonstrates his classical prowess by performing Bach and Mozart compositions!), Zaza's extreme versatility has been showcased worldwide in concerts, clinics, festivals, as well as on his own solo instrumental CDs (www.neilzaza.com). Zaza's latest CD ("Staring at the Sun") finds Neil in great company with Steve Smith and Ross Valory (Journey), Stu Hamm (Joe Satriani), Michael Lee Firkins, as well as fellow Peavey endorsee, drummer Robin DiMaggio. "Staring..." finds Neil delving deeper into his trademark "singy" melodic style of guitar-playing, while at the same time harnessing and tastefully exploiting his explosive chops.Prior to tracking "Staring at the Sun", Zaza completed an eight-month North American tour with band mates Bobby Rock (drums) and Bill "The Buddha" Dickens (bass) that saw them touch all corners of the continent. These live shows have produced the double live CD, "Snap, Crackle, and Pop- Live!" (Paranormal Records) which is a mind-numbing tour de force in the extremes of what each instrument can achieve solo and in a band context. 1999 has seen that line-up hit the road again in support of the CD, leaving a trail of dropped jaws in its path. As one of the guitar world's most sought-after educators, Zaza maintains a year-round clinic tour schedule, conducting events throughout North America and abroad when he isn't out on tour with his own band. Zaza is featured in a variety of international music publications, performs regularly at major trade shows and guitar festivals, has won numerous reader*s polls for "Best Guitarist", as well as writes a monthly guitar column for Gig Magazine. Neil has shared the bill with everyone from Steve Vai, Dweezil Zappa, members of Toto (Steve and Mike Porcaro), Yngwie Malmsteen, Vinnie Moore, Andy Summers, Larry Coreyll to the Hartford Symphony Orchestra as a guest soloist as well as countless others. With his unique blend of soulful melodicism, stunning technique, and good songwriting, Neil Zaza is widely known and acknowledged as one of the top instrumental guitarists out today. |
