Artist description Ingrid Beute was born in Johannesburg in 1971 and began her musical training with Josias van der Merwe. At the age of five, Ingrid made her debut as soloist with the Pretoria Technicon Orchestra and at age six recorded both Mozart piano concerto K595 and Vivaldi recorder concerto in G major for television broadcast with the National Symphony Orchestra. In 1984 Ingrid was selected to study at the extra-curricular school center for highly gifted children to study science. The following year she won the National Eisteddfod of South Africa Reserve Fund Scholarship. For more than 15 years she studied under the guidance of Pauline Nossel. She continued winning prizes and awards, including First Prize in the 1987 National Youth Music Competition and First Prize in the 1987 South African Broadcasting Corporation Ensemble Competition. She won the South African Music Rights Organization Scholarship and University of South Africa Study Bursary, both in 1988 and 1989, and took First Prize in the 1989 National ATKV Forte Competition. As the youngest competitor in the 1990 UNISA International Piano Competition Ingrid won both the prize for the best South African participant and the most promising competitor. In the same year she won Third Prize in the Sixth International Piano Competition in Marsala, Italy. During her stay in Italy she received further invitations to perform in other centers. Ingrid has performed as soloist with all the major symphony orchestras in South Africa and Bophuthatswana and recorded regularly for SABC-radio. During the 1990’s Ingrid taught piano, clarinet and harmony at Redhill High School and appeared regularly on the concert platform as soloist and orchestral pianist for the National Symphony Orchestra , Johannesburg. Currently she is completing a Masters in Music studying with Professor Richard Fields of the University of Cincinnati's College College Conservatory of Music, USA.
