Artist description
Roots based country/rock, in your face, get up and dance, cry in your beer music. Lyrics with a twist and a sense of humor that's missing in today's country music. Definitely not Top-40 country. |

Artist History
If the name sounds familiar, it may be that you recognize Bob as a long time veteran of the San Francisco bar band scene in the late 70's and early 80's. He was a member of some of the Bay Area's most popular bands, including The John Gallagher Band, The Bandits, and The Crosscut Blues Band.
Growing frustrated with the music scene, in 1982 Bob took what he thought would be a part time temporary job as a stock clerk with a major electronics retailer. Little did he realize, that he would wind up back in college to receive a degree in transportation management, nor that he would spend the next 20 years climbing the corporate ladder.
But now he's back, having left the corporate world, and he's armed with a new CD release, and plans to put together a new band. Yes, Bob will be performing for the first time in 20 years - check his schedule frequently for appearance dates.

Press Reviews
"It's great! I loved it!" - Candice James, Saddlestone Records "Knocked my socks off!" - Wayne Leinsz, Lion Hill Records"The sound is clean, crisp, and righteously cool!" - Dennis Kahler, Lithics Music Group "Indie Rock meets Country" - David Hooper, Kathode Ray Music "This is a great album!" - Keith Davis, KOOP FM 91.7, Austin, TX "Not your typical Billy Ray or Garth cross-genre hit" - Craig L. Marrano, Tap Online "Who needs fluff like Garth Brooks when there's folks like Banjo Bob?" - Net Guide "TURN IT DOWN!" - Bob's wife "Banjo Bob is not only a talented songwriter, a gifted guitar player, and a down-home singer - he's also believable! Raised in Los Angeles and now lives in Pacifica, but his heart beats with a country twang. We have a new place to go for some country cool - with a citytwist!!" - KKUP Radio "Many of today's Alt-Country bands sound a lot like the Gin Blossoms with a pedal steel. Not Bob Freedman! After a long day of roping steer under the Bay Bridge, or breaking the wild horses in Golden Gate Park, this Northern California cowboy comes home to write songs that will have you hootin' and a hollerin' as well as dripping tears in your beers -- even if you're drinking Anchor Steam." - Listen.com Editor's Pick |
