Artist History
Amy and Meagan Alwood began as a dual acoustic group, playing coffee houses and opening local rock shows. They were approached by some of their rock friends to start a band. The Velveteens began a rise in popularity, due in big part by the Alwood sisters maintaining their unique harmonic melody over top a gritty, bluesy guitar-based band. The Velveteens have gone on to release their first full-length CD, Marveline, on Derailleur Records based in Columbus, Ohio. The current line-up of the Velveteens have been performing local and regional shows and are working on a follow up record. |

Press Reviews
"The presence of lead guitar, bass and drums doesn't detract from the band's focus: the Alwoods' singing. Their buoyant, sometimes discordant voices carry "Marveline"- The Other Paper, Columbus, OH "I was thoroughly impressed...Their fresh indie rock is highlighted by vocals shared between Amy and Meagan Alwood...the Velveteens are one of the most talented new bands I've heard in a while."
