Press Reviews
Listening to Untitled Art's digital debut is a trip back in time to the golden age of British new wave, when punk's torch still burned brightly, Duran Duran was still cool, and Boy George was flunking his audition for Bow Wow Wow. "Ordinary Day" is Teardrop Explodes meets Psychedelic Furs, while "Third Street" weds pre-Christian U2 to a Flock of Seagulls. "Hey" would have smoked the Ritz in 1982...mobs of uptight kids with funny hair, twitching beneath a giant video of that chick from Romeo Void: "I might like you better/if we slept together" ...uh, where was I? Oh yeah, Echo, an aptly named LP. Essentially a solo thang by one David Sempier, this little gem's chockful of very good songs in a very dead genre. Then again, maybe this is like the end one of those horror flicks, where you see the destroyed monster's claw throbbing at the bottom of the sea, and the words crawl across the screen: THE END?--demo universe.com ****************************************************************************************************************** After sitting and sucking down a few at The Ferry Boat Restaurant in Egdewater, NJ with the new bright, well-endowed, ingenious, not ashamed to punch you in your face David Sempier I must admit his personal attitude and music go hand and hand. Only a unique and exquisite Dave could create such a hype so phenomenal and inspirational that it could make any non-alternative person want to listen to it again and again and again; Get my point!!! His profound and impassioned lyrics and exorbitant beats really hit home. Untitled Art has one song which really rapes my mind. The one song which he recreated from Depeche Mode entitled (enjoy the silence) really rocks and kicks ass. His recreation is truly exhilarating considering the fact that Untitled Art is composed from an Attic in his home in Rutherford, NJ on an old 4 track which in itself is a feat given the sound quality coming through the speakers. Some of his music is currently available for download on napster.com. and MP3.com Check it out; trust me his music won’t disappoint you. It could make the revenants ascend from their graves !!!!!! ---a review |
