Press Reviews
"A band that is Ripe for success is a New York outfit appropriately named The Rype Band. This quartet has been playing around the New York State area since early 1995, and has appeared with bands such as Donna the Buffalo and Hypnotic Clambake, among others. The only disc that has passed this way is a 69-minute smorgasbord of sounds, Curvy Purple (Constant Velocity). There are 21 tracks on this mostly acoustic -based album that’s best desribed as 21st century folk-rock. These guys don’t get into lengthy jams, although they do create a rich tapestry of sounds with melodic songs that have quirky rhythmic nuances. “Outer Space” with its lifting melody and subtle electric guitar fills is a highlight as are the wistful and eloquent “Intentions” and the autobiographical “Nub”. Also noteworthy is the delectable reggae of “Time Don’t Stop”. This is a highly original and reccomended band." Mick Skidmore -Relix Magazine |
