    Artist History
A powerful new force in heavy modern rock is spineCar – a band from Albany, New York with a brutal sound and a timeless, unique vision of pure musical depth fueled by raw energy. spineCar’s recordings and live performances speak for themselves. Their self-titled debut was released independently in 1997 and commanded instant attention from everyone who heard this aggressive new sound. 1999 brought the much-awaited follow-up recording – Up From the Mud. The single “Waste Away” was chosen by WQBK FM of Albany, N.Y in The Next Big Thing local event and the classic “Freeze” was recently featured as the opening theme song in the 2003 DMG Films release “The Situationist”. As word of this powerful new band with a heart-stopping live show spread throughout the northeast U.S., spineCar was busy crafting songs for the 2002 Spaceboy release – Autophile, a blasting reminder of what it feels like to be truly rocked. An April 2002 review in Metroland Magazine (Albany, N.Y.) simply states; “This is a really, really good record - these guys rock hard”-J. Eric Smith. Autophile was also chosen as one of the Top Ten Area Recordings of 2002 by Metroland Magazine with cuts from this surprising release gaining airplay on WQBK FM and WHRL FM in Albany, N.Y. spineCar was spotlighted on Fox Albany Television during an in-studio interview with coverage of their frantic live performances from the past year and pounded CBGBs in New York once again in their performance at the Guitar World Magazine - Musicians and Emerging Artists Festival. Other northeast U.S. venues in which spineCar has performed include The Continental -N.Y., The Acme Underground -N.Y., The Chance -Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Valentines -Albany, N.Y., Saratoga Winners -Latham, N.Y., and Northern Lights -Clifton Park, N.Y. “Singer-guitarist Eric Braymer, bassist-vocalist Larry Gagliardi, and drummer Art Bernstein deserve rich credit for thoughtfully mapping the point where [many other] bands intersect, creating a unique and impressive sound of their own in the process.” –J. Eric Smith. spineCar is a band that continually strives to capture the most powerful and emotionally charged elements of their music while still exploring all that they know and feel. Press Reviews
Metroland Magazine - Albany, NY 4/2002 spineCar autophile (Spaceboy Entertainment) Boy, other than to say "this is a really, really good record" or "this band rocks hard," it's pretty darn tough to get your hands far enough around autophile to be able to stylistically summarize it. I mean, just listen to the first three songs: "Home" grinds along in a disturbing aural groove similar to that etched by Korn on their influential "Ball Tongue;" "Stay" wouldn't feel out of place when pressed up against some great stoner rock classic from Kyuss; and "Soul Patch" could almost be a (great) lost Soundgarden track. Ain't too many metal heads that can evoke that many stylistic touch points over the course of thirteen minutes of music . . . and when you note that there's another 36 minutes to go after those first three songs, well, you can imagine the dilemma that a 250-word record review poses. So let's just boil it down to those basic introductory points again, shall we? autophile is a really, really good record, and Spinecar is a band that rocks hard--not to mention smart, and that's worth a lot in a world of dumb Korn, Kyuss and Soundgarden imitators. Singer-guitarist Eric Braymer, bassist-vocalist Larry Gagliardi and drummer Art Bernstein deserve rich credit for thoughtfully mapping the point where those bands--and dozens of others--intersect, creating a unique and impressive sound of their own in the process. And the nicest thing about the musical place where they end up is that it's radio ready as all get out, proving that you don't have to dive for the lowest common denominator in order to create art with broad popular appeal. That makes spineCar a band worth pulling for. Go! Copyright 2002: J. Eric Smith. Car & Driver Magazine::: "what the??" American Medical Journal::: "there are no facts present to substantiate these claims. " Consumer's Digest ... " by far the best rocking you will find anywhere, five star safety with rocking in a close proximity to the rock reset button, and performance is more than peak with the optional passive boosted input."
