Artist History
Sangselskabet Guldbergs Akademiske Kor (Guldberg's Academic Male Chorus) was founded in 1916 by Ansgar Guldberg. It has survived the cultural changes during the century and is still known as a 83 year vita chorus with approx. 50 singers.Their reportoire covers a wide range of music, from 18. century C. M. Bellman to Schubert; from Barbershops to traditional drinking songs and from Norwegian national romance to classic sacred and secular music. In recent years the choir has had a steady touring and concert activity, latest at the opening of the common Nordic embassies in Berlin, Germany. At several occations Guldberg's concerts are held with famous Scandinavian artists like Steinar Ofsdal, Göran Fristorp and Anne-Lise Berntsen. The choir is known for its several performances in TV and radio. Their 1995 CD: "Norges Skaal" presenting 200 years of traditional Norwegian drinking songs sold more than 5000 which is quite impressing for a record with such a narrow aim. |
