Artist History
Gomes has been composing since the early 1980's. By 1990 he had already set up his own studio, which moved him even closer to the musical world. It wasn't unusual for him to work 12 hours straight, playing, recording and mixing. It was then that he discovered classical music. Using synthesizers, Gomes took his first steps composing in the old style. In 1992 Gomes formed an "Estudantina" (musical group made out of portuguese male university students, playing popular and classical themes using acoustic instruments). As the founder and manager of this "Estudantina", Gomes could finally explore his composing skills. He had many hits, not only with the songs that he composed, but also as a solo artist. Press Reviews
Weaving, fugal lines from a modern purveyor of computerized neo-classical. When not busy writing his contrapuntal electro-harpsichord numbers, Gomes is an avid fencer, finding beauty in all things Baroque. (in Expresso, 5-6-1999). The author's opinion: Miguel is one of the most talented new classical composers in the 90's. Go listen immediately to this excellent composer, at his great looking page with a classic look and feel. Miguel is a Portugese composer. Don't miss his works! (in IMP). |
