Artist description
This new CD solo Piano release "Seasons of Expression" has drawn rave reviews from many Washingtonians. It is a joint production of a husband and wife team, James and Farah Michael Lawlor II. They were both child prodigies in music and art respectively. Mr. Lawlor meticulously composed all of the 10 beautiful, classical, soothing piano pieces. If you had to buy one piano instrumental CD, this is the one to get. The Ten beautiful ambient, originally composed Grand Piano pieces are available on the CD only (story and description of each song given below). With 20 years of classical piano experience, including 7 years of training from a Tchaikovsky Award winning composer (in Athens, Greece) Mr. Lawlor has churned out a definite winner in Classical Piano music. Mr. Lawlor also received training in Classical Piano from The Buffalo Conservatory of Music. The CD cover was painted and designed by his lovely wife, Farah James Lawlor II. It is a copy of one of her nudes done in the style of the Old Masters, Rubens and Michelangelo. Mrs. Lawlor, with 15 years of Fine Art experience is an acclaimed Artist and Corporate Graphic Design Consultant with a degree in Graphic Design and The Fine Arts from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. Mrs. Lawlor received her Classical Art Education from her professor, who was a graduate of Yale University. She gave up a Fine Arts Scholarship to Yale University to study with her husband. Hence, the Lawlors both received their Masters in COMPUTER MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS from The University of Maryland and (both) have full-time careers with THE WORLD BANK as Computer Management Information Systems Consultants. They both pursue their hobbies of Piano and The Fine Arts through Piano Recitals and Art Exhibitions respectively. Together, these two extremely gifted talented artists provide an exciting art and music fusion, which is vibrant. This exhilarating combo will continue to amaze Washington audiences for many years. Personally experience "Seasons of Expression" and immerse yourself into another world of comfort and serenity. "Seasons of Expression" is Mr. Lawlor's first CD Album. As mentioned earlier, three songs from my "Seasons of Expression" CD, Meri Farah (My Farah), Lovers in Paris and Piano Concerto No. 5 (Seasons Overture) are available for listening on this website. And the remaining seven are available on the CD only (story and description of each song given here): Song Title 4: Sad Eyes (Available on CD only). Description: A powerful Solo Grand Piano piece that will surely evoke a strong emotion in the listener. Story: This song is dedicated to my dear Father who passed away from Cancer. May he rest in peace with the knowledge that I, his oldest son, loved him most. This song will be forever in memory of him. The "Sad Eyes" were mine. Song Title 5: Rainfall Rhapsody No. 12 in D Minor (Available on CD only). Description: A pulsating crescendo of Solo Grand Piano keys composed to give the illusion of a sudden downpour during a brief Summer rain storm. Story: The tempo of this piece makes the listener envision the pounding of constant raindrops pulsating against the roof of my candy apple red convertible sports car. "Rainfall Rhapsody No. 12 in D Minor" was composed in my mind while I was experiencing a sudden downpour, during a brief summer rainstorm, while driving through scenic Vermont. Quite a mesmerizing experience! Song Title 6: Au Revoir Mon Cherie (Goodbye my darling) (Available on CD only). Description: An exhilarating melody that will leave you breathless in the tradition of Chopin, but with a little contemporary New Age mixed in. Story: This song is written for the one who is forced to say goodbye to his lover. The essence of the emotional turmoil and sadness involved in losing a loved one is captured here. Song Title 7: Romantic Liaisons (Available on CD only). Description: A "romantique" and sensual masterpiece that is best enjoyed with a well-aged bottle of Bordeaux wine and a fine cheese enjoyed by the fireplace with that special someone. Story: "Romantic Liaisons" was conceived on a cold crisp winter evening deep in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. My secluded log cabin stimulated the intellectual flow of my writings that eventually led to the completion of this song. Song Title 8: Night in Champagne (Available on CD only). Description: "Night in Champagne" is a melodious, ambient Grand Piano selection that is almost never ending in its artistic beauty. It is a complicated piece that intertwines into quite an intriguing and interesting piece that will last in your memory for a long time. Story: Written in beautiful Champagne, France, I was inspired by one of my wife's Art Gallery Openings. Her exhibition portfolio consisted of an impressive artistic array of classic nudes painted in the style of the Old Masters, such as Rubens and Michelangelo. The mesmerizing combination of her paintings, the Beluga Caviar and the Dom Perignon 1971 made the event a "Night (to remember) in Champagne". Song Title 9: Je Cherche (I am looking for) (Available on CD only). Description: This classical piece will captivate your soul as tantalizing chord and note progressions ascend and descend the Grand Piano keyboard. Performed with a gentle, soothing touch, this piece will put you in a relaxed frame of mind. Story: "Je Cherche (I am looking for)" was written during my extensive travels in the South East Asian country of Pakistan. Captivated by the warmth and beauty of the people of that region and the exquisite Himalayan Mountains I visited, I wrote this song in tribute to this wonderful country. "Je Cherche (I am looking for)" symbolizes what I have always looked for, i.e. acceptance and peace. I found all this and more in the Pakistani cities of Lahore (the romantic Garden City) and Karachi (the Silicon Valley of the East). Song Title 10: This Determines You (Available on CD only). Description: "This Determines You" is the last song of the SEASONS OF EXPRESSION journey. Written as a gentle ballad, this peaceful classical/new age piece will hypnotize you into a state of lasting tranquility. Quite an intricate melody, "This Determines You" will keep you in a deep meditative trance with its exploration of classical Grand Piano chords. Story: This Piano Piece is written in memory of my Hungarian professor, Mr. Motos, who was awarded the Tchaikovsky Award in Vienna. Mr. Motos was, and will always be, my mentor. He began my classical piano development when I was only ten years old. I was captivated by his expressive virtuoso style of classical piano. After my stimulating music lessons with him, I would walk to the Acropolis and bask in the glorious Athenian cool breeze blowing through the ruins of the Parthenon. This song expresses my happy memories from that time. Listen for yourself in this final journey of SEASONS OF EXPRESSION. |
