    Artist History
Born in Europe in the late 60's, Jeb King was always surrounded by music. Many, many artists and musical styles influenced him throughout his adolescence. He would spend long hours listening to the BBC and stacks of LP’s, that his parents readily supplied him. Music was everywhere with everything from Coltrane and Monk to Mozart and Shostakovich. His parents were very supportive of his musical appreciation and encouraged him to learn all he could about various genres. Europe, at this time, was a melting pot for the fusion moment and rock and roll was just coming into it’s own and finding a foothold in the colonies. With everything going on around him, Jeb didn’t feel he had to swear an allegiance to any one style, but rather would try to take a little from each and fuse them all together. He chose to envelop himself in the cool tones and warm feel of contemporary jazz and blues. Music is an expression of the soul and is born of feeling. This changes daily. How many times have you felt like listening to one style one day and something completely different the next? It’s this realization that has set imagination in motion. With most of his free-time occupied with immersing himself in music, Jeb became a quick study and excelled in many area’s while attending public school in his home in Oxford. Receiving very favorable marks he found a kinship with most of the beat poets of the day. It was around this time that he moved with his family to the states just north of New York City. He quickly adapted to his new surroundings and became known for his musical ability and talent. He was very busy, often being involved with several groups at one time. But he always found time to seek solace in his writing. It was always nice to clear his mind of all the ideas that would dance around daily. He always would keep a note pad near by to jot down any idea that he had, including form and function. He would spend a lot of time at the piano figuring out with chord structure best fit his composition. In the summer he would spend his time being creative, while his friends would enjoy the warm sunny day outside, he was always busy fine-tuning his passion. It wasn’t until his 8-grade year that all his hard work paid off and he was asked to play on a recording of a local artist. He went to Nashville to lay down tracks, an experience, which had a profound effect on him, and forever changed him. Through contacts made during these sessions, Jeb later found he could relate to several individuals and thought he had to collaborate with them. While searching the radio dial in the late 80's, it became painfully obvious that there was nothing out there that could satisfy Jeb’s musical tastes. Accepting this, he began to create his own music. Without any limit of genre or style, whatever he felt like playing he played. Certain things put him in different moods. Listening to Mozart could bring out a complex, almost surreal sound. While listening to top 40 could take a totally different direction from the previous incarnation. Over the years Jeb learned not to confine myself to musical genres. Although any good record exec will tell you to "find one style and stick with it". “NO WAY”, say’s Jeb. “If someone likes one song of one particular genre, and maybe likes or dislikes another, well who am I to tell them they're wrong. People will like what they like behind closed doors, the trick is to have them bring it out in the open, to express themselves and not worry about what other people think. Music has A LOT of power, and it's all good.”
