FORGARÐUR HELVÍTIS ****
If there was one demo I've heard these last couple of months I would recommend, this would be in the running without a doubt, Iceland's FORGARÐUR HELVÍTIS who have been around since '92, are evil and play their Black Metallic mayhem at breathtaking DARKTHRONE pace, but with the vocal terror of Power Violence bands like RORSCHACH, DAWNBREED OR LUCIFERZ MOB. Ther's sixteen skullchruchers on this, all brilliantly expressed without resorting to bullshit excess anywhere. This demo is called surporise surprise, "Burn Churches" and is the band's first.

FORGARÐUR HELVÍTIS - "Brennið Kirkjur"
Iceland doesn't seem to have a very big underground-scene, I guess, but one of the currently best grindcore bands (in my opinion) hails from this island in the North....FORGARÐUR HELVÍTIS! Those who're into fast, brutal short-to-the-point grind with socio-political lyrics SHOULD GET THIS DEMO!! Awesome..
TAUB! zine
This is the 1st band from Iceland featured in Decibels Storm, and it's a very promising start. This demo was recorded in february '95 and it's the 1st opus of this band created in 1992. These 16 tracks've got an amazing sound and the of F.H. is a very fast Black Metal in the veins of Scandinavian bands. The songs are so numerous because they're really short and finally this band reminds me some Scandinavian HC bands, but with a Metal and Occult approach. The songs are sung in Icelandic and for a 1st step in the International underground scene, they will certaily impress a lot of people.
DECIBEL STORM
The Icelandic grind/noise desecrators (their name in English is something like Forgarden of Hell) are back with a convincing, blasting and powerfully angry 16 track demo tape. "Brennið Kirkjur" (burn churches) is full of inhuman forfling, fast zoom rythms and short bursts of energy and positively stupid bullshit for music. The lyrics do their best to irritate and provoke and the whole thing has enough attitude behind it to give a feel of a strong thing.. It only gets a bit too metallic at times, I think, even some black metal influences seem to pull through (wich is not that good thing, considering their originality level).

"Distortion to Hell...and Back" Vol. 3
CDDistortion Records nails it again with another addition to their ongoing "To Hell and Back" series. Her is another collection of some of the finest hardcore and grindcore the east side of the Atlantic has to offer. NO SOLUTION, COUNTERBLAST, DOWNWARD SPIRAL, N.W.S., DISREGARD and SVARSMALT. Not a bad track in the lot. But the standout had to be FORGARDUR HELVÍTIS. Fucking Icelandic grindcore! 4 songs of pure grindcore trash that clock in under 4 minutes total. Yes, yes, yes! Go steal some money and send away for this right now.
